We sent home the kids! After waking up at 5:30 AM for their departure, the rest of the interns and I realized we forgot our passports (we were going to Geneva) and had to get off the bus in Annecy. After a coffee and a bit of waiting around, we got a ride back to the priory. Diana and I actually went back to the city to catch the end of the sales. We ended up spending the whole day browsing and running errands.
The next morning, everyone else decided to go into the market. I was about to go on a run, and had a brainstorm... why don't I RUN the 12.2 kilometers (7 and a half miles) to Annecy! So I did. I learned a few things along the way...
1) I'll only run this route once. Too smelly (car exhaust), not very scenic (skinny roads), and hard (concrete).
2) French bikers whistle tunes nonchalantly while they zip by you at 30 miles per hour on their Tours du Lac.
3) Ending a run at a market is fun. Especially when you have a ride back home!
4) Don't mess with French bikers. On the surface they may seem calm and happy, but I saw a nasty yelling fight between a pulled over truck and a pissed off biker. Easy when there's barely enough space on these roads for two cars to pass eachother.
