I led a successful overnight hike this past weekend, with the incredible expertise of Bernard (our resident mountain goat/man) and 25 other students. We made it out to a chalet nestled in an Alpine valley on Friday and had an amazing meal of fondue with potatoes, meat, and cheese from a neighboring farm. On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early and hiked all day through some pretty muddy and marshy but beautiful miles. Remember that scene in the Sound of Music where they're hiking along? Well the hills were alive on this hike, too - the beauty of the nature around hear practically puts that film to shame!!
My good friend Julie and her friend Dan came to visit on Saturday! We've had a great time having dinners with all the staff here and hanging out around Talloires. We explored the market in Annecy, played some frisbee, and unsucessfully searched for a good cliff jumping spot (but had quite a nice walk). She's an amazing photographer, and I hope to post some of her amazing pictures soon.
One of the interns, Justine, plays piano and sings more beautifully than anyone I know. It's great in the afternoons and evenings to just sit in the big lecture hall and hear her improvise on the baby grand we have here. It's truly amazing.
Until next time!
