So I went on a little trip. It was awesome, amazing, extraordinary. I know I use those descriptors more than most, but I really do mean them. We hit Lisbon, Sintra, Lagos, Olhao, Faro, Seville, Cordoba, Madrid, then Paris. There is way to much to tell - too many lessons learned, people met, sights seen and good times had. So what I’ll do is break it up - for each place, I’ll summarize things, elaborate on a funny story or two from each of the places I went to, and finish up with some key observations. That way those of you who want the facts can stick to the summaries, those who want interesting tidbits can look at the stories, if you only have 2 seconds you can still humor me. And my truly faithful followers will have practically a novel to read. Here goes.
In a nutshell, another intern from the priory named Diana and I decided to pack up some bags, start in Lisbon, make our way to Madrid and then fly to Paris. Everything in between was sort of up in the air. What happened was a mix of new cities and old ones, beaches, fishing ports, busses and airplanes that left us wishing it would never end. Diana really is “awesome” (even though she claims I use the word too much) and I couldn’t have asked for a better travel buddy and friend. We’re total opposites in so many ways, and our friends had a running bet on who would kill the other first (a joke...) But we’d been pretty inseparable for 3 months (working, eating, sleeping, and hanging out together at the Priory) so we had faith. And you’d be surprised at a) how much you have in common with; b) how much you can learn from, and; c) how fond of someone you become when you’re around them all that much. I was the geographical navigator, and she the social navigator. We made a great team. Read on for some of our adventures.
