Chamberry

So things around here are pretty slow. All the students are gone, and we're just sort of getting this old building ready to be locked up for the winter. I cleaned out our Harry Potter-esque storage closed under the staircase, bagged up the entire laundry room, etc.

Our boss surprised us with a surprise visit to Chamberry yesterday! Instead of work, we got a day to go exploring. We headed out all smushed in our van to this little city south west of here. It was really beautiful - wide streets with nice little shops, a huge castle and cathedral, and an picturesque old city. I feel like I use picturesque way too often, but it's fitting, honestly. After we visited the city in the morning, we stopped at a random vinyard and got an explanation of wine making in the region from a nice old lady. Her and her husband make a few types of wine off of their hectare of grape orchards, and we got to try and buy them. Get this - some of the best wine I ever tried, and she sold bottles of it to us on the spot for only 3 euros (about 5 bucks!)

Then I made Pho with Adam, but it didn't come out as good as usual. Not enough seasoning, and we should have sauteed the chicken first, but some really awesome rice noodles!
