Let me just tell you a few of the things I've had to do at "work" this week. On Monday night, we went out for ice cream in Annecy (they have really really awesome ice cream there) with the Tufts in Annecy students. Except only 2 students showed up! So basically it was 6 interns, my 3 bosses, one professor, and 2 students. Our other task for the night was to roam the streets of Annecy on the prowl for partying high school kids out past their curfew. Oooh, tough, I had to walk with my friends while eating ice cream in a beautiful old village in France past open air cafes, crepe stands, and picturesque little shops.
As if it couldn't get any worse, on Tuesday I went to tour a cheese factory with the high school students! We got to see the cheese actually being made, a movie about cows and cheese in France, the cave where the cheese ages. There were free samples. It was awesome. We switched gears and went to a Resistance museum. There was a huge presence of Resistance fighters in the Haute-Savoie region where I am, and there were a few especially epic battles where a few Resistance troops put up heroic fights against German and Vichy France forces. There were some pretty neat relics, newspaper articles, speeches and monuments celebrating the heroism of the young troops. Another tough day at the office.
Well, I'm off to pack up for our overnight hike with the students tomorrow! How am I going to find a job this cool in the states?! (I am leaving out some of the more boring actual work stuff I do - some of that really does happen at times...)
